ABOUT THE COMMITTEE
The World Health Organization (WHO) was founded in 1948 as a specialized agency of the United Nations to address global health challenges. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the WHO works with 194 Member States to coordinate international responses to pandemics, eradicate diseases, and promote health worldwide, guided by its constitution, which recognizes health as a fundamental human right.
The WHO's primary goal is to ensure that all people, everywhere, attain the highest possible level of health. Its efforts include disease prevention, strengthening health systems, promoting healthy lifestyles, and responding to health emergencies, always with a focus on equity, sustainability, and international collaboration.
